Pilates
Pilates exercise, performed in the U.S. since the 1920s, is named after its inventor, Joseph H. Pilates. He was a boxer and gymnast who also studied Yoga and Zen meditation. This unique system of stretching/strengthening exercises promotes a leaner, firmer and stronger body. The Pilates system emphasizes musculoskeletal balance, proper breathing, and spinal alignment. The entire body is worked with an emphasis on the core musculature. Exercises can be performed on a padded floor mat or with special equipment
